Bad Republicans

Why I Hate Republicans and the People Who Support Them

Yes, I hate Republicans. I loathe them. I hate people who support them (although I temper that). Right now you are probably thinking any of a number of things.

I'll toss out the "just another internut" and the like as not worth considering. Random thoughts also as I'd never fathom them all and really don't care to try. Somewhere in it all there will be those thinking I'm just an ignorant liberal asshole. Others will be waiting, maybe eagerly, for my explanation. Others will already be agreeing with me. I think my reasons are sound and understandable, even reasonable.

I didn't always feel this way. In the early '80s I didn't have a problem with Republicans. I considered them vestiges of a society that was seeing its sunset but I didn't regard them as some kind of dangerous or horrid human manifestation. Then I heard the Rush Limbaugh show.

Rush started his radio screeds in the mid 80's. I stumbled into one while driving and was completely amazed. First I was amazed that someone would devote that kind of time to make feeble yet truly nasty attacks on the Democrats and the hated "liberal". Second, I was amazed he was even on the air (this was just after the Fairness Doctrine fell). There was palpable anger and at times hatred in his voice. The third thing that amazed me was he was finding a willing audience. And lots of them. People I knew were listening to him. Worse, when asked, they thought he was funny - no feeling of offense or WHY???

So people - Republican conservatives for the most part - thought he was OK, and even funny. It wasn't a comedy show. He was presenting this "program" as a form of opinion and news, stating ludcrous details based on his many assumptions as "facts". Even then I knew this was a nasty fire, a coal seam fire burning through the soil of our country.

At that point I was just very sad. It had not yet been shown - with certainty - what would happen if Republicans got in charge of the country for a couple of decades.

Years passed. Rush gained more audience share, followers and eventually imitators. These Rush clones branched off and started the heavy bombing region by region, the buckets of gooey hate thrown at an often rural and older crowd. I hesitate to say they were unsophisticated but I know that demographic is adequately represented in his audience. The hatriot radio pionees knew what to say. The audience ate it up and asked for more.

I don't want to hear it was/is all in fun. We all know, now, that's not true. Yet - to every Rush junkie - you would have told me I was seeing it all wrong, it's all a form of comedy, that I've got some kind of persecution issue, etc., etc.,. We know differently now, don't we? Even back in the late 80's after hearing him, some of us knew it wasn't a "comedy" show in the way we've always known comedy shows and programs. Comedy - that's SNL, Mad TV, and the like. No, it wasn't comedy then and it's not comedy know. It's attack programming.

And brother, do we liberals and Democrats know it.

For more than 20 years liberals and Democrats have taken a verbal lashing from hatriot radio, representing the conservative Republicans for all intents. For what? Well FUCK US, ALL WE ARE DOING IS TRYING TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR POOR PEOPLE AND THE DISADVANTAGED AND TRYING TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE GETS A FAIR DEAL.

Doesn't sound so bad to me. Yet I have heard myself and others called the worst of names, had violence urged against us, and basically everything EXCEPT a direct threat of violence - which would be illegal and could cause them problems. But everything else has been flung. For 20+ years. And now it's getting worse.

THe summer of 2009 showed we've got people in this country already getting too excited. THey pretty much match a consitant profile. White. Middle age or older, conservative, scared, loud, ill informed and not very up on what makes the government operate, things like basic governmental functions. People putting words together in unexpected ways, and acting like they've discovered some kind of hidden truth. Ignorance on parade in the heartland of America.

Again with the sadness.

While some maintain the opinion that the hate filled segment of conservative Republicans are harmless, I don't. It is true they have done little (aside from a couple of murders and a few near riots and some broken glass), and I guess that is true. Yet their intent is clear with these outbursts. Intimidation. Intimidation backed up with threats of violence of course (is there any other kind?). If things don't go right, don't go THEIR WAY, watch out folks! Don't tell me that's not true.

I haven't brought up the whole black president thing because the race of the Pres in this scenario is a mere sideshow. The true evil, the true nastiness, has been corkscrewing into the conservative American psyche for TWENTY FUCKING YEARS.

Make no mistake. The right winge crazies mean to do ill. They mean to hurt other Americans if they don't get their way. And their way, sadly, is pretty much a return to the mid 1950's.

No way.

So now the calls to hate liberals, lefties and even "progressives" along with the subhuman, evil and moronic Democrats, seems to be at 10 on the volume knob, and I have a feeling the summer of 2010 will see the misguided and hate filled zealots of the right going even further.

It's clear in all this that this right wing movement - of which I include the Tea Partiers (known as the American Bagger Movement, or simply American BM) - wants to hurt me and people like me. They want to hurt those who won't vote like them. They've been filled with anger and hate, pumped in by a sweaty Rush Limbaugh, dripping Glen Beck, and greasy old Bill O'Reilly. Lefties, Democrats, Liberals, we are all their enemy. They've been told to hate us and more. The subtext is clear.

These righties want blood.

And you know what? A lot of us liberals and progressives are really, really tired of taking and listening to your shit. We've started talking back. We've started giving you a piece of our minds. And what happens? Look at the blogs and open forums. Conservatives are crying "foul! How dare you say those things? Don't you know your ideas of gov. will destroy the American way of life?" That last one, that's the real kicker.

While Republicans and their supporters are long on talk and theory about what will happen IF in some fantasy world the evil liberals get into power, where they define the outcome quite in their liking, they fail miserably in a simple fact few of them will admit. We've seen more than a decade of Republican rules and legislation and government control and it had basically destroyed the US. That is fact. It can NOT be denied.

Continued Republican rule has led to disaster. Fact. Demonstable fact. Undeniable fact.

All the complaints about liberal and Democrat governing is supposition. There is no fact. Anything discussed about outcomes of a decade are only intellectual exercises with no fixed outcome when looked at fairly.

Is it not simply fair, after you've lost an election, to let the American process work without interfering? Without obstructing? Liberals and Democrats let Bush run away with it knowing they'd get a change to peacefully, legally fix things when the time came. Is it not so much to expect, EXPECT, Republicans to offer the same consideration? But I guess I'm jsut a rreasonable man and expect tohers to be reasonable too. Such a fool.

So, Republican conservatives hate me. Some of them want to hurt me. And they don't want to play by the rules. Three valid areas of concern. Three pieces that don't make sense in the America I grew up to know and believe in. MY America. A fair America. An America where the most important people in the country won't play by the rules because they LOST AN ELECTION.

This is wrong.

You can't talk to these Republican conservatives once they've been indoctrinated. THey know everything. They know what you are, and they know they have the right way to do things, and your way is wrong. Their way has been shown to cause the destruction of our country yet they still think i ti sthe right way to go.

This is WRONG.

Self defense and defense of the American way of life. Two things currently under threat by the right, by conservative Republicans. I'm not a holy man, I'm not Jesus. I react to these things with my own feelings, and the truth is I've been driven to hate Republicans.

Righties and Republicans reading this, if you've gotten this far meybe you can figure out what made me this way. But don't ever look at someone like me and think we have no right for this feeling toward you. Don't ever think you or your heroes are innocent.
